According to Jong FC Utrecht striker Tijn den Boggende, there is a simple explanation for the team's success: 'We have approached it differently than in previous years.' But that is not without reason. Den Boggende mentions the name of coach Mark Otten. 'He came here with a certain vision', says the striker. 'It was up to us to adapt quickly and I think we did that as a team very well.' The vision that Den Boggende is talking about is simple. 'Today better than yesterday, tomorrow better than today', says Otten. 'That's what we try to achieve every day.' The coach says that there are clear agreements within the team and staff to achieve the goal together. 'As a result, the results have come naturally', he says. A trick that the coach uses is to stay away from the emotion of the result of the games. 'When we lose, it's sometimes not as bad as it seems, but when we win, it's not as good as it seems either.' 'And somewhere in between lies the truth.' Otten explains that he discusses this process with his players and shows them that there are opportunities in mistakes. The coach's gaze is already slowly turning to the next season. Then he wants to perform well again, but that is not necessarily related to the result, according to the coach: 'My goal will be to improve again', says Otten. 'And for me, several pillars are important: the result, but also the development of individual players and the flow to the first team.' Den Boggende is already looking forward to the new season: 'We'll just keep going and see what happens', says the striker with a big smile on his face. 'If we can keep this line going, then something nice will happen, but we have to see if that will happen.'
