Sylvia Smit is the new head coach of FC Utrecht Women. She signs a one-year contract and follows Linda Helbling. Smit has a successful season behind her as head coach of Jong FC Utrecht Women. She led the team to the championship in the second division. Smit is an experienced coach and has worked at Jong PEC Zwolle and Jong sc Heerenveen. As a player, Smit won the cup with Oranje Nassau and FC Twente in 2005 and 2008. She was the top scorer of the first division with sc Heerenveen in 2009 and 2010. Smit played 106 international matches for the Netherlands between 2004 and 2013 and scored 30 goals. With the Dutch national team, Smit finished third at the 2009 European Championship in Finland. Smit is a historic choice for FC Utrecht and is welcomed by the club and the fans.
