Utrecht's Femke Broeders-Bol calms high expectations for her participation in the 800m at the FBK Games in Hengelo. The 26-year-old athlete from Amersfoort emphasizes that connecting with the world elite takes time. "The chance is very high that I won't win everything this year," she stated in a press release from the organization. The event is set for June 21. Broeders-Bol has previously delivered impressive performances, including two world titles and two European titles in the 400m hurdles. She also secured Olympic bronze twice and remained unbeaten in the Diamond League for five years. Last year, she decided to switch to the 800m, where she ran her first race in January, setting a new Dutch indoor record of 1:59.07. "Everything is getting used to it," Broeders-Bol says about her new training regimen. She is working on a more efficient running style and is tempering her expectations for the summer. "I want to try to reach the level of the Diamond League competitions, but I’m not claiming I will become European champion. That wouldn’t be respectful to top athletes like Keely Hodgkinson and Audrey Werro, who have already proven themselves in the 800m."
